Katy Chaffin joins JVS

by herb on Sep.01, 2011, under chronicle, news, racing

Katy Chaffin a 31 year old originally from Georgia, has just begun her racing career after many years of recreational cycling. As a teen Katy worked and played outdoors–she rode mountain bikes, ran trails, and often spent her time getting muddy spelunking. After several unsatisfying jobs in the city she decided to become a bike messenger and combine her passion with her work. Katy has been delivering packages (through all four seasons!) for the past four years while earning her Bachelors degree in sociology at Brooklyn College. After years of working on the road, this summer she decide to try her luck with real bike racing (no more alley cats, lol). Katy raced her first few races on a friends borrowed carbon bike and was hooked. Katy bought a Cadd10 4 and started min-season and had done a few races thus far, and is really excited to race cyclecross in the fall.

Caroline Gaynor: Amica Ocean Beach 19.7 Sprint Triathlon

by herb on Jul.27, 2011, under chronicle, events, racing, results

Caroline Gaynoy says, I didn’t receive the most valuable prize for winning my age group at the Amica Ocean Beach 19.7 Sprint Triathlon on July 24th, but it’s pretty awesome to have a hat that says “FASTEST”… no matter how off base that statement may be.
